The story of Ishita Rathi IAS begins not in the corridors of power but in the modest lanes of Delhi, where a family from Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh had settled in pursuit of better opportunities. Born on October 19, 1994, Ishita grew up in a household where the uniform symbolised not privilege, but duty. Her father, Mr. Iqbal Rathi, a Head Constable in the Delhi Police, and her mother, Mrs. Meenakshi Rathi, an ASI in the Delhi Police, shaped the atmosphere of the household — one of discipline, integrity, and service.

From childhood, IAS Ishita Rathi absorbed the ethos of public service. She listened to her parents’ accounts of their work — the late nights, the weight of responsibility, and the small moments of impact. These were not stories of glamour but of grit. And in them, she found her calling — not just to serve, but to lead.

Her mother, serving as a woman officer in the male-dominated Delhi Police, became a particularly powerful inspiration. If her mother could break barriers in khaki, Ishita Rathi resolved, she would break them in a white kurta behind the Collector’s desk.

Educational Journey & Academic Achievements

Ishita Rathi IAS completed her schooling at DAV Public School, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, where she was a consistent merit scholar. Her academic inclination toward Economics became apparent early, and she secured admission at the prestigious Lady Shri Ram College (LSR), University of Delhi, pursuing B.A. (Hons.) in Economics — a choice that would define her entire UPSC strategy.

UPSC Preparation Journey — The Struggle Before the Triumph

The journey to becoming Ishita Rathi IAS was neither straight nor simple. After completing her MA, she began UPSC preparation at around 20–21 years of age. She chose Economics as her optional subject — a double-edged sword known for high scoring potential but equally demanding rigour.

Her first attempt (2019) taught her the terrain. She came close but did not secure the IAS rank. Her second attempt pushed her further — but the coveted rank eluded her again. Many aspirants break at this point. Ishita Rathi chose to rebuild.

What sets her apart is that through all three attempts, she prepared entirely without coaching. No classroom, no crash courses, no expensive mentors. Instead, she relied on standard UPSC texts, NCERT foundations, consistent answer-writing practice, and above all — her own analytical framework developed over years of studying Economics.

In 2021, on her third attempt, everything aligned. Ishita Rathi secured All India Rank 8 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2021 — among the highest ranks for female candidates that year. LBSNAA Training, Love Story & Career Launch

Allocated the AGMUT cadre (IAS Batch 2022), Ishita Rathi joined the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie for her Foundation Course. In February 2026, IAS Ishita Rathi was appointed as the 22nd District Collector of Karaikal, Puducherry — one of the youngest officers to hold this position in the AGMUT cadre. As District Collector, she simultaneously serves as District Magistrate, Karaikal, and Managing Director of the Puducherry Power Corporation Limited (PPCL).

Born to a farmer in the small village of Chak 3BM, Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, he studied in Hindi medium and faced enormous financial constraints. His father’s modest farming income barely covered educational expenses — yet Ravi never abandoned his studies, completing his graduation in 2015 and setting his sights on the IAS.

He cleared the UPSC examination four times — improving dramatically from AIR 337 (2018) to AIR 317 (2019) to finally AIR 18 (2021).
